Over the years of working as a psychotherapist I have seen the truth of how our thoughts create our reality. What often brings people to therapy is the discomfort of having our thoughts and feelings not in alignment. Fundamentally, I believe therapy is a change in perspective. It allows us to gain a new viewpoint of the problem that has kept us feeling stuck. When we are able to deeply explore our feelings, the emotions emerge and reveal themselves in a felt sense that our thinking starts to see and understand. I believe this experiential understanding is the beginning of a new perspective. Having an impartial witness listen to our story with attention, care, and concern can lay the foundation for change.
